Even if you go it alone, specialize to keep your initial investment low. If you do only interior painting, for example, you might get by with one ladder, a few brushes, rollers, basic hand tools and such, for an investment of less than $300. Again, you can add to your tools as you need to (every job is a bit different), and parlay profits into the equipment necessary for exterior painting or working on large commercial properties. .
In addition, we use paint with no or low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). That means we’re doing our part to minimize our impact on the environment with every job, and it means you can come home to a beautifully painted house with no fumes or odors.
Maybe it was word of mouth, good reviews, a good sanitation score, a clean atmosphere, the professional service, the quality of the food, maybe being close by or locally sourced food also helped? While you were considering all these factors – little did you know – you were qualifying and researching before you chose to give that particular restaurant your business.
I ended up scraping off paint and wallpaper down to the plaster. It took a couple days to finish. I’m so glad they only did that in the one room! Again, moisture really helped in the process. The more I soaked the walls, the easier it was to scrape and remove the wallpaper and paint. After I had the entire room scraped down to the bare plaster walls, I realized I would have to repair some cracks and skim coat the entire room if there were going to be halfway decent looking walls.
When the painting is completed, most good painters will give you a written invoice that details the completed work. This invoice usually includes: Any applicable warrantees or guarantees provided by the paint manufacturers and the company.
Our average exterior or partial interior project usually requires 3-5 days to complete. We follow paint manufacturer’s preparation and application methods to produce the most durable coating possible. We have developed a special treatment, unique to the south side of your home. This process focuses on removing any existing failed coats, applying one solid coat of penetrating oil-based primer, and back-rolling 2 coats of premium grade Sherwin Williams® exterior paint. Read more… Paints and finishes release low-level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. The source of these toxins is a variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which, until recently, were essential to the performance of the paint.

When the painters arrived, they reviewed everything again to make sure they were painting the right things. Then they powerwashed and carefully masked everything off, also carefully moving furniture. They painted everything so nicely, I am very satisfied. There were frequent check-ins with me about how the service was going and clear communication about payment.
It’ll cost you between $500 and $1,000 to paint the exterior yourself. Not including paint, it’ll cost you no more than $200 to $300 at a home improvement store like Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. You may end up spending more if you buy high-quality products from specialized shops. Professionals can get the same supplies for about half what you’ll pay.
Painting the interior of your home should be a fantastically enjoyable and rewarding experience. Trying to conduct the effort by yourself can lead a great deal of frustration and substandard results. The ceilings are all covered in popcorn finish. We really didn’t want to keep the texture at all, but decided to forgo removing it to save money since it’s mainly an aesthetic preference anyway. But we wanted to at least get the ceiling back to looking white. Previous residents must have been smokers, as the ceiling in the living and dining room had taken on a gross yellow patina. Although popcorn with butter is delicious, you don’t want your ceiling to look like buttered popcorn. There were some unsightly water stains as well. We initially just tried painting over the stains with KILZ primer (we actually just tested one spot to experiment.) The water based primer didn’t have a chance against the stain, and within minutes it was seeping through the (several) coats of primer.
