James and his crew did a phenomenal job painting the exterior of our home. They were meticulously detailed and were a joy to work with. Looking forward to working with them again!
Ignacio and his crew go Above and Beyond. Ignacio even took me over to a house I liked the colors of and got in touch with the painters there to get an exact paint match. They are awesome, fast and very detailed. Excellent company.
Because the wood, primer, and top coat of paint are not expanding and contracting at the same rate.
The rule of thumb has always been to apply a good coat of primer, sand, then apply your color coats. This is still a good rule to follow, but new paint technologies have combined primer and paint into one product, which manufacturers assert will cut down on the number of coats you will have to apply. This newer paint is more expensive, but may be comparable to the purchase of separate primer and paint. Look at reviews of these newer paints, particular from folks that have used it in your area. Do you really want to spend several hours prepping the walls? And don’t forget about pulling up your area rugs and moving furniture!
If your home does contain lead paint, your painting contractors legally need to take precautions when removing it. These containment procedures may include sealing off the rest of the home, wearing respirators to avoid inhaling the lead, disposing of the clothes worn while removing the lead paint, and using special filtration systems and post-removal cleaning procedures to remove all lead particles. A: Most homes that were built before 1978 were painted using lead paint. A simple lab test can prove if your paint contains lead. Some painting contractors in Sonoma County will test for lead paint, and lead paint tests are available at most hardware stores. A: As with may home improvement projects, it is possible to paint your home yourself. If the area you want to paint is small or you have experience painting, you may be up for tackling the job yourself. However, painting can be time-intensive, messy work. And depending on the size of your project, you may be wise to hire a professional to do the job. Professional painters already have the knowledge, skill and the tools to do the job right. Most will also guarantee their work, so you’ll be more assured of getting a quality paint job that lasts. A: With paint, the old saying usually holds true: You get what you pay for. Top-quality paints are more expensive, but they often have better ingredients that allow them to go on smoother, be more durable and last longer than cheap paint. Over the long run, you’ll have to repaint less frequently and your home will look better between painting, meaning you may save more money by spending a little more at the outset. A: Exterior and interior paint is labeled according to its sheen and gloss. The higher the sheen, the more light reflects off of the paint and the glossier, or shinier, it appears. Your choice of paint will depend on the area and surface you’re painting, the color of paint you’ve chosen and the need to clean the painted surface and hide imperfections. Matte and flat paints have very little to no sheen. They are generally used on walls and ceilings and are best for hiding imperfections in the surface. Eggshell finish has a slight sheen and has a lustrous appearance. It is often used on interior walls. Satin and silk finish paints have a finish that is in between that of eggshell and semigloss. They are easier to clean than flat paint. Semi-gloss finish is a shinier, glossier paint. It is easy to clean and resists staining. However, the glossier a finish is, the more likely it is that imperfections in the paint will be obvious. A: Painting contractors base their prices on a number of factors—the cost of labor, the time needed for surface preparation and needed repairs, the quality of paint applied and the number of coats needed. Cheaper bids may reflect a lower quality of work or less experienced painters. However, it’s smart to question the contractors when one bid is much lower or much higher than the other bids you’ve received to make sure the painting company is bidding on the same work.

“My wife and I have been using House Painters for projects around our house for years and years now and they always do terrific work. Recently we hired them to paint our deck and fence since the weather had done a number on them. The boys that came by washed off all the old paint and got everything looking like new. We’re very happy with the help they’ve given us and tell all our friends in the neighborhood about them.” - Tom M.
This is probably the best painting company in Vancouver. We certainly haven't come across any better. They have done marvelous work for our strata building. The quality and skill is exceptional. All of their employees reflect the professionalism of their owner. Truly none better.

Prep work for old homes can be especially difficult. Poor prep work on an exterior will mean needing to re-paint sooner (sometimes literally within 1-2 years), which will cost far more time and money than doing it correctly in the first place. In fact, a good professional paint company may use more than half of the entire project time preparing a surface to paint. Trust the process; this time could be difference in hundreds of hours and dollars.
Quality work and service. Eric was great to deal with - always available and kept me informed throughout the job. Highly recommend EB Painting!

While it’s best to simply choose a Diamond Certified painting company because of their Highest in Quality rating, that may not always be possible. If you’re unable to choose a Diamond Certified contractor in your area of Sonoma County, you can improve your chances of hiring a good painter by checking out candidates on the Contractors State License Board website to ensure active license and workers’ compensation insurance. Violations and license revocations will appear on their license record, so you’ll know about serious customer grievances and complaints that have been filed with the state.
